The Modern Order of The Knights Templars

The identity and totally modern aegis, of The order of the Knights Templar does not promise a solution or answer concerning the difficulties which will be faced by men and women of intelligence as the world experiences the new Millennium. Fees and devotions

The Cessation of Constitutional Allegiance Fee.

From the earliest days The Order of The Knights Templar, costing and estimates have always been essential keys in the planning of the operations within The Noble Order of The Knights Templar.

The closest consideration has been applied in establishing a pragmatic basis of "Allegiance Fees" which are the only revenues received by this order, and used for the overall support and development of The Order. This financial obligation was enshrined in the Constitution, and was mandatory throughout Membership and without exception. Indeed, the Allegiance Fee, which was a thumbprint of tangible support and genuine sincerity by the Member in question, was the only Constitutionally authorised financial requirement of Membership. That has now changed.

The Honour Code System

Inherent throughout The Order is the principle of "Honour for Honours Sake". It is unthinkable that this Noble Order should ever be required to 'press' a Member for the payment of his annual Allegiance Fee, when the Member's honour, as bestowed upon him by The Order, is in recognition of his innate and recognised nobility of character, and the trust, confidence and respect which is naturally reposed in him or her. So, with the intent to dispel with the Annual Allegiance Fee, we now have a singular payment for initial Associate Membership.

If you think you have what it takes to be a Knight of the Temple of Jerusalem, accept that you may be called upon to serve in a role overseas with a Charitable work-in-progress, please request an application from the Email address below. If accepted as an associate and potential Knight Chevalier or Dame Chevalier a period of postulancy will be entered into. At the time of the completion of a successful postulancy, the applicant will petition the Adjutant of the Commandery to be scheduled for investiture. Investiture ceremonies are conducted singularly or enmasse, depending on the time and situation. The Order is multi-denominational. The original Templars were not Catholic. We are a multi-denominational Order. All the faithful of The One True Creator are welcome.

We require patriots not politicians, strong hearts not big egos, true believers, not bigots or racists. We are not fanatics nor do we aspire to great wealth or status, ours is to serve and to learn from the esoteric mysteries, to seek peace within by meditation to temper our bodies through physical training and to contemplate the great glory of our creators vision for humanity as we journey to a higher level of conciousness.

The cost of an individual Associate membership is AUD$235.00. The Associate Member receives a wax sealed certificate of association, Lapel pin, Tie or scarf, I.D card and all documents required for study and training throughout the period of postulancy. Associate members do not necessarily have to become postulants for Knighthood, many members are fully functioning Sargeants and Officers of the Order with all rights of association. Unsuccessful postulants for Knighthood may re-apply as many times as it takes for them to achieve their Knighthood, there is no processing fee. Associate membership is for a lifetime. Only Knights and Dames have the right to bear the letters 'Kt.A' after their name.

Introduction To The Honours Of The Order

To the mind of a typical observer, the concept of some worthy individual being Invested with an `Honour' quite naturally kindles the thought of a `Monarch' or other head of state bestowing upon a subject a title which could vary from an insignificant medal in recognition of an equally insignificant deed, to those honours considered to be the highest available, and whose holders find their place among the Earls, Barons and other Peers of given realms. In the main, this would be a reasonably accurate assumption and, while frequently incorrect, must be forgiven due to the economy of `knowledge in general' concerning the `Honours system'.
From the earliest mists of history, records exist concerning the granting or bestowal of `Honours'. Many, indeed most, were acts of favouritism, patronage and in many cases, bribery. In more recent years however, the Honours system has considerably improved, although it still remains far from perfect.
It is important to understand that while most knighthoods, including many modern versions, are used by certain countries to reward individuals for a wide variety of reasons, a Sovereign for example, does not normally ennoble an individual as such, but rather as the Head of a respective Order. It is important to understand therefore, that while individuals per se do not ennoble, Orders such as The Ancient and Noble Order of The Knights Templar, by virtue of the powers granted by its Constitution, and by the laws of Jerusalem can and do. This form of ennoblement is fully hereditary, totally lawful, and fully recognised.
Arguments are frequent and rarely solved as to whether the granting of honours is a worthwhile activity in modern life or not. The one argument which shall always prevail, and which is emphatically in favour of the honours system, is the argument that there is hardly a better way to reward and recognise a given person whose achievements have proven to be to the benefit of many others, or in the case of the Fellowship of this Noble Order, their commitment to support the aims of The Order.
The Honours system, historically traditional within The Knights Templar Order, is to support exactly the ethic just explained. When recommendations to The Order are made in respect of the most worthy individuals, The Inner Court can recommend and approve, the awarding of legitimate and hereditary Honours with their appropriate titles and privileges.
It must be made clear however, that the Honours which are granted by The Ancient and Noble Order of The Knights Templar, are not in any way linked or connected with any other chivalric Orders, whose honours may be bestowed by various Sovereigns, Principalities and States etc. The Honours are indigenous to The Order, and in fact pre-date in mediaeval origin virtually every other similar surviving ancient distinction of Knighthood.
The Honours List
The names of all successful candidates for Membership in this Noble Order, together with details of his special interests, profession, family details, and of course photographs are published by way of a special supplement on the occasion of each issue of the official Magazine of The Order. Traditionally, this has been a bi-annual publication, although in recent times, and by virtue of a much greater input of information, the publishing frequency of the Magazine can be varied.
The Hereditary Character
The Constitution of this Noble Order decrees that the Honour of Knight Templar, bestowed upon a Member in full and good standing of The Order, shall be in perpetuity, following upon formal Investiture. All honours so bestowed by this Noble Order are fully hereditary.
The Honour, which shall normally descend through the eldest of the male line, shall nonetheless be left to the absolute discretion of the Member, and to his enduring posterity. The exalted honours of Knight Commander and/or Knight Seneschal are however bestowed upon the individual Member personally for the Member's lifetime and not in perpetuity.

The Constitution: A Brief Description

The document refers to the revival and registration of The Order, which has given the Order both the rule and the protection of law. This has been made possible in part by the pragmatic requirements of the laws of Jerusalem, and in particular, the laws which pertain to the registry of non-profit Fellowship Societies through the Registry of Societies under "The Societies Act 740 - 1980".
To provide further rigidity and adherence to the rules which govern the revived and now legally existing 'Fellowship Society of The Ancient and Noble Order of The Knights Templar', (the parent Order of 'The Knights Templar of Australia' ) the Founder Members and their advisers developed a comprehensive and formal Constitution which embodies all the normal requirements of a Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association, Rules of Fellowship, and Bye-Laws.
This Constitution, which represents the very corpus of The Fellowship Society, has been ordained to sit alongside and blend with the appropriate laws of Jerusalem as they may pertain to this Noble Order. The Constitution is the immutable code by which all acts and actions of The Order are tested and governed.

Knights Templars persecuted

The 'War of Independence' was still raging and King Edward ignored the Pope where it suited him. He proceeded to imprison any Templars who disagreed with him except for those that had actively aided him in his Scottish campaigns. Edward eventually allowed the Inquisition into England but refused to allow them to use torture as this was opposing the laws of the time. The Order of the Knights Templars slowly disappeared or went underground. Many Knights Templars joined the Order of the Knights Hospitallers, an Order dedicated to healing and caring for the sick, the founding fathers of the Hospital and Health Care system that we know today. Other Knights Templars formed a new type of Order and became absorbed into Freemasonry. The Freemason link with Knights Templar and their secrecy coupled with their use of pyramid symbolism are overwhelming evidence that some Knights Templar Orders did survive. The traditional esoteric Orders of today are based on the most ancient interpretation of the documents and evidence that is available for study. Freemasonry is not Templarism and there are no genuine Templars that can be both one and the other. Templarism is not about secret sectarian Kabals of social engineers bent on manipulating the masses for selfish profiteering. Templars have one purpose which is to "Do the Right thing". Live in harmony with all natural creatures of our creators making. Respect. Truth. Justice. As our Creator Wills it be done. So it will be done. Wickedness and deceit has brought our kind to the brink of self destruction. Peaceful co-existence by all nations cannot be achieved while evil reigns from our administrative offices. The global community of our kind will not benefit from centralised control by fiends that idolise material wealth.
